Bids are not published until the auction settles. They are not hidden from the operator: deposits arrive in an escrow we watch, so we can see every bid as it confirms.
Your bid is the maximum you name. It competes only if the full amount — your maximum times the quantity — has arrived and confirmed; a short deposit is not a lower bid, it is not in the auction, and it is refunded in full.
Only CONFIRMED deposits count. Sealing pins a block height, and a deposit counts only if it reached the required confirmations at or below that height, however early it was sent.
A bid cannot be lowered or cancelled. You cannot un-send a shielded note, so this is a property of Zcash rather than a rule we enforce. To raise a bid, name a higher maximum and send the difference.
Every winner pays the same price: the lowest winning bid, not their own. The difference is refunded.
Refunds and delivery go to the shielded address you give at registration, in ZEC, and nowhere else.
